Waselenchuk Wins 10th US Open Racquetball Championship
Minneapolis, Minnesota - Edmonton native Kane Waselenchuk won his 10th US Open Championships and 7th consecutive Sunday, October 12, 2104 at the 19th US Open Racquetball Championships in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He defeated Mexican Alvaro Beltran in the final, 11-6, 11-1, 11-6. Waselenchuk also won the men's pro doubles title on Saturday with partner Ben Croft (USA). Canadians win Men's Open Singles and Doubles. Coby Iwaasa of Lethbridge, AB won the singles title, as he defeated Colombian Alejandro, Herrera, 15-4, 10-15, 11-10. Iwaasa fought back from 10-5 down in the tie-breaker to pull out the victory. In doubles, Nicolas Bousquet of Montreal and Samuel Murray of Baie-comeau, QC defeated Argentines Daniel Maggi and Fernado Kuzbard, 15-11, 14-5. Iwaasa and Bousquet are members of the Canadian Junior National Team that will be competing the the World Junior Racquetball Championships in Cali, Columbia from October 18 - 25.
